About The Red Dog Foundation:

The Red Dog Foundation, is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been created to help families of pediatrics with out of pocket expenses they incur, specifically parking fees they are faced with daily, while visiting a child in a NYC hospital.

Did you know that for certain cancers, the average patient must spend 25-45 days in the hospital. For family’s visiting on a daily basis this can become very expensive. In some major cities like Los Angeles and New York parking can cost upwards of $50/day!

This causes families to spend thousands to tens of thousands in parking fees alone! The Red Dog Foundation was created to help families with those parking fees and we love the concept.

Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills

Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, of Vassar, Mich., was injured resulting in quadruple amputation when he stepped on an IED April 10 while serving with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Luckily he has a loving and supportive family he’ll soon be with when he returns stateside, however his road to recovery will be long and expensive.

Applying for a Grant

Almost everyone that applies for free web hosting or free web design and marketing services also applies for a grant.

Grants can range from $3,000 – $15,000 USD.

You can apply here.

This post will help you understand if you meet the criteria to receive a grant.

To receive a grant you must meet the following perquisites:

• We must be hosting your website for free
• We need to have done free web design and/or marketing for you within the last 12 months
• You need to have proven to us that you are an active 501(c)(3) or other NFP/NGO

The reason we require you to have a prior relationship with Kerstner Foundation is to prove to us that you aren’t a scammer who wants to keep the money for mischievous reasons. It also helps us narrow down the pool of applicants to only the dedicated organizations.

One final thing: We receive about 5 grant requests a day, so please be patient. We only have so much we can give.

Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain’s normal development of social and communication skills. It can be devastating to most families – But there is hope! Autism Speaks is a phenomenal charity doing a host of great things. It is for that reason we will be donating 100% of our proceeds to them.

Today we got a message from an individual who wasn’t a non-profit, but wanted to raise money for a charitable cause. They wanted to know if we could build them a free website and offer free web hosting.

Because the individual was not a registered 501(c)(3) this isn’t something we can normally help with except in very special circumstances.

But instead of turning them away we wanted to educate them on some of the other online options.

* NOTE: Most of these companies are either going to charge you a monthly fee or a percentage of donations. WHY? …Long story short, anyone who accepts credit cards needs to pay “processing fees” around 2.5% – 4%. There is no way to avoid these costs so they pass them along to you.

Long beach has a big harbor, and there are a lot of fun and more importantly, free things you can do there. In fact you can do so many great things there that in October 2008, the Long Beach City Council approved a community-driven proposal to declare Long Beach the “Aquatic Capital of America.” The proposal was initiated by a committee led by Tom Shadden, a longtime Long Beach resident, businessman and sailor.
